- SignalFall :: active :: build a space trading RPG lived entirely from the cockpit, Sega 32X first
cockpit-bound space trading RPG / Sega 32X first / old-machine mystery
A space trading RPG lived entirely from the cockpit. Sega 32X first.
You work the ship: station terminals, port control, contracts, cargo, salvage, route risk. Nothing narrates itself; the world arrives through the machinery you are already touching.
Lately the instruments are reading something they should not.
Small games surface on old hardware inside the world: the Murphy Micro System. Some are found. Some are meant to be found.
Design work started in 2023; the current 32X implementation grew out of that design line.
Some of this is not ready to be shown. That is the point.
Role: solo creator / design / systems / implementation
- Meld :: active :: ship an original arcade-puzzle game for Sega 32X with multiple modes and a 2-player surface
Sega 32X color-match puzzle / beta / six modes and 96 campaign boards / 2-player mode / release target end of 2026
Meld is an original arcade puzzle game for the Sega 32X built around clearing same-color orb groups across a shifting board.
Six modes change how the board shifts, refills, pressures, or challenges the player, and each carries sixteen hand-authored campaign boards for ninety-six in total. A 2-player mode runs alongside the solo arcade ladder.
Meld began as an iOS build, moved to a single-board Sega 32X version in 2024, and the current build started fresh in 2025.
Targeted at retro console players, puzzle fans, and 32X enthusiasts. Tested on emulator and running on real Sega 32X hardware.
Release window: end of 2026.
Role: solo creator / design / implementation
Build notes:
- beta: all six modes carry their sixteen hand-authored campaign boards, ninety-six boards total
- beta runs smoothly on real Sega 32X hardware
- 32X sound-effect content is in place and still being validated across hardware builds
- music is the largest remaining blocker: the build still mixes older tracks with newer material, and the final soundtrack selection, mapping, and replacement pass is not complete
- Blight and Black Hole still need deeper refinement, particularly Black Hole two-player balance and usability
- JRJ: Jenovi's Retro Jukebox :: active :: play Sega cartridge soundtracks live from the running sound driver, not from pre-ripped files
desktop jukebox for SMS / GG / Mega Drive soundtracks / live emulated playback / official announcement pending
JRJ is in active development; official announcement and public release are forthcoming. The record below outlines what it is and where coverage stands today.
JRJ runs original cartridge ROMs headlessly through Genesis Plus GX, identifies which sound driver the game uses, and plays individual music tracks straight out of the live emulated chip state, not from pre-ripped VGM or MP3.
Builds as a CLI plus an optional Qt 6 desktop app (CMake, cross-platform in principle; macOS is the exercised platform today, with CI on macOS; Windows and Linux untested).
Strongest coverage today is Master System and Game Gear: 134 titles publicly playable under an honest two-tier status. 8 are Verified (human ear-confirmed with typed evidence): Shinobi, Alex Kidd in Miracle World, Phantasy Star (JP), Fantasy Zone II, Shadow Dancer, Parlour Games, Madou Monogatari I, and Tails Adventure.
The remaining 126, including Sonic, Golden Axe Warrior, Kenseiden, and the Compile GG library (Puyo Puyo, Aleste, the rest of the Madou series), are Probed: machine-verified by automated distinctness gates, playable now, awaiting ear review.
Mega Drive coverage is mid-rebuild around a runtime-probe approach. Streets of Rage is currently playable as the experimental MD title; its playback matched all 17 slots against the game's own in-game sound-test oracle.
Atari and NES system support is on the roadmap.
For retro-game-music listeners, chiptune/VGM hackers, and sound-driver preservation work.
Role: solo creator / implementation
Build notes:
- verification gate: "Verified" is earned only by a human ear-test pass backed by typed evidence (applied verdicts, named tracks, or a signed attestation); machine pattern-matches surface as "Probed", and family matches alone stay experimental. An objective auto-reject audit gate (R1-R4 collapse/silence detectors) is implemented and pending merge.
- MD is hard because sound drivers are LZ-compressed in cartridge ROM and only exist decompressed in Z80 RAM after the game boots: static byte-pattern fingerprinting failed, so MD coverage is being rebuilt around a live RAM probe
- Berius :: active :: download, organize, and play media in one native macOS app with a bundled, constrained toolchain
native macOS media downloader, library, and player with a bundled, constrained toolchain
Berius is a native macOS app built in SwiftUI. It downloads audio and video, files the results into a persistent library, and plays them back, all through a command-line toolchain the app bundles and manages for you.
The design is intentionally constrained: no raw command arguments, no self-update, no remote components, no plugins. The app owns the toolchain and the library folders so behavior stays predictable and self-contained.
The downloader is near complete: best-quality video, audio-only formats (MP3, M4A, Opus, FLAC), progress and cancel, output-folder persistence, and cache management. The library and player add persistent history, separate Music and Video sections, playlists, and in-app playback. A disc-authoring workflow is planned.
Role: solo creator / design / SwiftUI implementation
Build notes:
- downloader roughly 95 percent, library and player roughly 70 percent, disc authoring not started
- bundles and verifies its own toolchain instead of shelling out to a system install
- ships an optional screensaver component alongside the app
- Sangokushi IV 32X EN :: active :: ship an English fan translation of Sangokushi IV for the Sega 32X via a pure-Python patch pipeline
Sangokushi IV (32X) English translation / full static text plus early runtime dialogue / pure-Python patch pipeline / not release-ready
An English fan translation of Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV (Sangokushi IV / 三國志IV) for the Sega 32X. The 32X release was Japan-only, so this is a translation patch rather than a re-release.
The patch pipeline is pure Python: no emulator mods, no binary tools, no pip dependencies. You give it the Japanese ROM and it produces a region-free English .32x in about five seconds.
All static text buckets are translated: menus, battle, UI, officer and city names, events, court, intro, ruler-select, credits. 3,112 CSV entries done.
Runtime work has begun on the gaps that are not CSV-patchable: the city stat panel is now drawn through a custom pixel-font overlay, four confirmed-visible speeches are patched and verified, and the main command menu now uses real labels (ARMY, CITY, PLOT, LORD) in place of compressed abbreviations.
The patch is not release-ready: it still needs a full-game visual smoke pass and readability polish on several common screens. When it releases it will be a patch only, and you supply your own copy of the game.
Role: solo creator / translation / patch pipeline implementation
Build notes:
- last cut build artifact: Sangokushi IV (English v46b - Region Free).32x; runtime dialogue and city-panel work is layered on top
- city stat panel now translated through a custom pixel-font overlay built for this project
- runtime dialogue translation started: four confirmed-visible speeches patched and verified
- main command menu now uses ARMY, CITY, PLOT, and LORD in place of compressed abbreviations
- not release-ready: needs a full-game visual smoke pass and readability polish on several screens; release will be a patch only
